Citrus College Welcome Center simplifies access to campus resources
Every new college student has questions. For 18-year-old Alejandro Haro, navigating the enrollment process, the thought of registering for classes and balancing academics with a busy athletics schedule initially seemed intimidating.
Fortunately, the Citrus College Welcome Center was there to help. By providing personalized support, the center's staff transformed a potentially stressful enrollment experience into a smooth transition.
"The Welcome Center makes the entire process less overwhelming," Alejandro said. "They walk you through each step, answer your questions, and connect you with the appropriate resources or offices to help you get everything taken care of."
Located on the first floor of the Student Services Building off Citrus Avenue, the Welcome Center offers a convenient one-stop-shop for members of the community who want to learn more about enrolling at the college.
By bringing essential services together in one location, the Welcome Center streamlines many of the tasks students encounter throughout the enrollment process. Support is available for registration, class enrollment, prerequisite and hold resolution, course selection and student ID services. The center also assists with applications, orientation, campus tours and website navigation. By introducing students to programs across campus, staff help make each step more manageable.
In fact, the foundation of the Welcome Center is its dedicated team. Serving hundreds of students each semester, they take the time to listen to each one and understand their individual needs. Their goal is for every student to leave with increased confidence and a clear plan.
"Many students simply need someone to point them in the right direction or to answer questions that they aren't sure who they should ask," said Mariana Rodriguez, Citrus College outreach specialist. "We enjoy being a resource they can count on. Every interaction is an opportunity to make a positive impact."
Now entering its second year of operation, the Welcome Center is focused on reaching even more students like Alejandro. Through expanded community outreach, enhanced access to information and increased collaboration with campus programs, the team will continue to refine the center's services.
"We hope every student leaves feeling welcomed, informed and sure of their next steps," Rodriguez added. "More importantly, we want them to know they belong at Citrus College and there is a team of people who are always ready to support them."
