Congratulations to Kevin Fermin, Class of 2022! After two years at Citrus College, he will be transferring to UCLA this fall.

Although enrolling in a community college originally wasn't part of his plan, Mr. Fermin says he soon realized Citrus College was the right path for him. "I had amazing teachers who helped me develop my writing, improve my speaking, enhance my way of thinking and pretty much everything in between," he says. "Now, I tell other students to come here and take advantage of everything this campus has to offer."

An aspiring educator, Mr. Fermin hopes to teach history one day. "I had a counselor at Citrus College who influenced me a lot," he said. "She told me she believed I would be a great teacher, and when I felt tired or burned out, she motivated me to keep going."

Now, Mr. Fermin hopes to inspire others in a similar way. "I was never one of those kids who was the smartest or the most academically gifted, especially compared to all of my friends who were top 10 students,” he said. “I want to be a teacher who helps those kids who are like me – the ones who get left in the dust."
