Congratulations to Jennifer Castaneda, a recent graduate of Citrus College!
An aspiring educator, Ms. Castaneda will be transferring to Cal Poly Pomona in the fall. She says her professional goal of becoming an elementary school principal was inspired by childhood experiences.
"My parents got deported when I was in third grade, and I didn't have them with me for a year. It really hurt, but all of the teachers, staff and the principal made sure that elementary school was a good environment for me. Even though I was going through something challenging, I wasn't doing it alone," she remembers. "Knowing how hard those times were for me and how much of a difference those people made, I want to be that person for others. There are so many kids that go through tough things, and I feel like creating a safe environment and showing them love is very important."
The Citrus College community is proud of you, Ms. Castaneda! We know you will make a difference in the lives of young students one day soon.
