Shout-out to Jayden Saldana, a Citrus College alumnus who is currently serving as a California Capital Fellow in Sacramento. By participating in this nationally recognized program, Jayden is receiving unique experiences in policy-making and development!

Although the California Capital Fellows program provides opportunities in each branch of the state's government, Jayden is spending 10 months working full-time with a mentor in California's executive branch. This area includes the Office of the Governor and constitutional offices, as well as cabinet-level agencies and departments. In addition, he is meeting weekly for graduate seminars in public policy and administration.

Jayden, who transferred to Pomona College and graduated with honors, believes the time he spent at Citrus College helped put him on his current path.

"The fellowship is a culmination of years of diligent work, both inside and outside the classroom, that began when I first attended Citrus College," he said. "Looking forward, I believe it will provide me with an opportunity to better understand where I belong in the scheme of politics, government and public policy. Working directly with members of the state's executive branch will better my understanding of what facet – and level – of government I would like to work in, what issue areas I am most passionate about, and how I should move forward professionally and academically."

The Citrus College community is proud of you, Jayden! We can't wait to see what your future holds.
