Congratulations to Citrus College student Alexis Carlin, who shared her "Citrus Story" with faculty and staff at the start of the fall semester.

Three months after Alexis became a mom, COVID-19 sent the world into lockdown mode and she found herself thinking about the future. Before she knew it, she was leaving the job she had held at a popular beauty retailer for nearly a decade and enrolling at Citrus College.

Originally, Alexis' primary goal was to earn a cosmetology certificate. However, she quickly became immersed in college life and realized she wanted to further her education. Although she completed her work in the cosmetology program this past summer, she has spent the fall semester focusing on her general education requirements and working toward a second major – psychology.

"My hope is that one day I can work in a field that makes people feel great on the outside and the inside. I am specifically interested in using my interests and education to work with young girls and provide them with encouragement and support," Alexis says. "Of course, none of this would be possible without Citrus College. I never really thought I was worthy of a university, but that door has opened for me. Now, the future is limitless!"
