Another Citrus College alumnus is up to GREAT things!

Matthew Levitt, Citrus College Class of 2019, studied mathematics at Citrus before transferring to Cal Poly Pomona to study computer science. He is currently in his last year at Cal Poly Pomona – taking courses centered on artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, concepts of programming languages and game development – and he plans on graduating in spring 2021.

This semester, Matthew is also participating in a research project with other aerospace majors and computer science majors. The project is funded by Lockheed Martin, and it involves creating a collision avoidance system on a multicopter.

Recently, Matthew was also offered a full-time software engineering position with Lockheed Martin Space. He will be starting after he graduates this upcoming spring!

"I'm really excited that I have the opportunity to work for a company like Lockheed Martin Space," Matthew said. "I want to thank Dr. Marianne Smith for letting me know about various opportunities, including the NASA L' SPACE Academy and the National Community College Aerospace Scholars (NCAS) program, as they directly helped me get this new position."

He added, "My family, friends, Citrus College instructors and the people who help coordinate the STEM TRiO program all helped me achieve my dreams of working in the space industry!"

Congratulations on all your success, Matthew! Go Owls!
