Counseling and Advisement Center

The Counseling and Advisement Center at Citrus College offers essential services to support student success both during their time at college and beyond. These services include assessing student skills, exploring majors, identifying career goals and selecting appropriate classes. The center provides a variety of specialized services throughout the matriculation process.

The Counseling and Advisement Center is located on the second floor of the Student Services Building. The center's hours vary by term.

A variety of counseling services including educational planning, transfer counseling and personal counseling are offered to help students make informed choices. Counselors assist with long-range planning and checking specific requirements so that students meet graduation requirements, course prerequisites and requirements for transfer to four-year colleges or universities. Numerous college programs also offer counseling services to meet specific or targeted needs or goals — the program or discipline-specific counseling services include athletics, CalWORKs, Career/Transfer Center, career and technical education, DSPS, EOPS/CARE/NextUp, visual and performing arts, international students, nursing, STEM and veteran services.

APPOINTMENTS, OVERVIEW

Students meet with a counselor or advisor during an individual appointment session. Services include academic and transfer counseling, creating a Student Education Plan (SEP), graduation checks and checking requirements for transfer to a four-year university.

Appointments through the Counseling and Advisement Center are recommended for students who have declared a course of study (major) on the Citrus College application or via the student portal. If you have not chosen a major or would like assistance in choosing a major, please schedule an appointment with a career counselor.

Official high school and college transcripts must be on file or brought to the appointment (if applicable).

Prerequisites can be cleared with an unofficial transcript so long as a grade of "C" or better is posted. Students are encouraged to fill-out and submit the online prerequisite clearance form. Students wishing to use AP test score credit to clear a prerequisite need to submit the AP credit request form. (Students may also challenge a prerequisite through the prerequisite challenge process in admissions and records.)

First Time Students
First time students may receive an error message when using the online appointment system. If you have never met with a counselor, please contact the Counseling and Advisement Center at (626) 914-8530 for assistance BEFORE using the online appointment scheduler. A message can also be submitted using this Smartsheet online form.
Before Scheduling an Appointment
Before scheduling an appointment with a counselor, all new students MUST complete the New Student Orientation online.
Transcripts
To initiate the transcript evaluation process, please complete the online request form as outlined on the my.citruscollege.edu portal. Please note the transcript evaluation process can take up to four to six weeks. If you encounter any issues or have questions about the process, please call the Counseling and Advisement Center.

If you have other college transcripts, please submit them to admissions and records.

We are dedicated to helping all students thrive and stay committed to achieving their educational goals. Our counseling services monitor the progress of each student and provide support for those who are undecided about their major or who are on academic probation, progress probation or facing dismissal.

Students who take advantage of campus resources from the start of their educational journeys are more successful in reaching their goals than those who do not. In addition to orientation and counseling services, we offer supplementary resources such as workshops and tutoring to support student success.
