Dr. Zellers first joined the campus community in June 1985, when the Citrus Community College District Board of Trustees named him the fifth superintendent/president of Citrus College. He served in this role for 18 years before retiring in 2003.

"Dr. Zellers was an esteemed and innovative leader who achieved much success during the nearly two decades he served at the helm of Citrus College," said Superintendent/President Greg Schulz. “His many contributions transformed our campus, as well as our surrounding communities, and his impact remains evident to this day."

During a tenure marked by significant change, Dr. Zellers demonstrated a commitment to enhancing the learning environment, increasing diversity and ushering in a new era of computing. He also sought out more than $60 million in state funds for the construction of new buildings and renovation of existing facilities, extended the programs and services Citrus College offers to students with disabilities, and initiated the addition of fiber optics on campus.

"I am grateful Dr. Zellers chose to invest his time and talent in this institution and I am inspired by his legacy," Superintendent/President Schulz said. "My thoughts and condolences continue to go out to his entire family, including our colleague, his daughter, Theresa Villeneuve."
