Legacy Giving
PLANNED OR DEFERRED GIVING THROUGH WILLS OR TRUSTS
The Citrus College Foundation is a member of the Leave a Legacy Coalition, which includes Planned Giving Round Table Councils, allied professionals and nonprofit organizations. This coalition was created to promote and support planned gifts that benefit the Southern California community while also providing personal rewards for donors.
Citrus College sincerely appreciates its volunteers and benefactors. Some of them are alumni while others either live or run businesses in the college's service area. All share a belief in the college's mission and recognize its positive impact on students' lives and the broader community.
Your contribution regardless of size to the Citrus College Foundation through your will or estate plan becomes a personal legacy that reflects your lifelong values — a legacy that will enrich the lives of others for many years to come.
To take the first steps toward leaving a legacy through a bequest:
Think about your personal financial planning and the importance of creating a will or estate plan. Even if your estate is a modest one, it is important to plan carefully to make sure your wishes are met.
Consider the nonprofit organizations whose causes are important to you. Perhaps you or someone close to you has benefited from an organization's services or you have been a volunteer, a supporter or simply a believer in the mission of the organization.
Contact the Foundation staff to arrange a campus tour or set up a meeting with the Foundation director and/or the superintendent/president if Citrus College is among the institutions you're considering supporting. This is a great opportunity to learn more about the various programs and services that could benefit from your contribution. You may find one or more programs particularly inspiring which could help you decide how to direct your gift. Alternatively, you might choose to make an unrestricted contribution allowing the college officials to allocate resources to the programs and services that have the greatest need and receive limited state funding.
Consult with a professional financial or legal adviser to develop an estate plan that maximizes the tax and legal benefits for your gift. The Citrus College Foundation maintains a list of qualified estate planning professionals including attorneys, certified public accountants and insurance professionals, which is available upon request.
