Visual, Performing Arts Student Success Stories
Creativity rarely follows a single route. Across theater, film, lighting design, music, photography and curatorial work, the Citrus College students and alumni featured here discovered new directions, refined their craft through mentorship and hands-on experience, and carried their talents into university study, teaching, exhibitions and professional careers.
LORENZO DESIDERIO-GIAMPICCOLO
A search for an on-campus job led Lorenzo Desiderio-Giampiccolo to become one of Citrus College's official hosts. Between tours and presentations, he continued studying theater and film and planning his transfer into the entertainment industry.
VANESSA JIMENEZ
A former band director's advice brought Vanessa Jimenez to the wind symphony. An introductory theater course then revealed her true direction: lighting design, national festival recognition and continued study at San Diego State University.

Featured in Modern Drummer, alumnus Anthony LoGerfo looks back on the Citrus College mentors who helped launch his career and shares lessons on persistence, financial planning, gratitude and enjoying the ride.
ABLE MARQUEZ
After winning a regional directing fellowship, Citrus College theatre student Abel Marquez advanced to the Kennedy Center, where his work led to a Juilliard scholarship and a return invitation for an intensive devoted to developing new plays.
SERINA MUMMERT
Music, leadership and campus life reshaped Serina Mummert's college experience. Performing with Night Shift and serving as student trustee helped her gain confidence, build lasting connections and discover the strength of her own voice on campus.
DANIELLA NAVARRO
A mother's daily routines became the subject of Daniella Navarro's bilingual solo exhibition at Cal State Fullerton. Through photography, the Citrus College alumna documented care, resilience and love while completing her bachelor's degree.
EMILIO PICHARDO
International stages helped Emilio Pichardo see the classroom differently. The music and history major hopes to carry lessons from the Citrus Singers, mentor Doug Austin and Citrus College into a future devoted to teaching.
KIM TOTH
A personal archive became public art under Kim Toth's curatorial eye. After earning three Citrus College degrees, the photographer expanded into analog and conceptual work, taught future artists and prepared for the next stage of graduate study.
