Three Citrus College student representatives from the Citrus College Clarion participated in the Journalism Association of Community Colleges state convention earlier this month in San Francisco.
Citrus College competed well against about 25 other California community colleges, earning six important forms of recognition during the conference: individual winners from the publication contests (based on work published by the Clarion and Logos during the 2022 calendar year) and one from an on-the-spot contest that was held during the conference.

- Informational graphic: Mark Snow, third place
- Online photo story essay: Mark Snow, fourth place
- Editorial: Clarion staff (written by Mark Snow), fourth place
- Sports feature photo: Rhys Teuber, honorable mention
- Magazine cover design: Cesar Aguilar, honorable mention
Clarion social media editor Robert Davis earned an honorable mention in an on-the-spot sports photo competition. Clarion staff members Zach Quintanilla and Gwen Ryan also attended.
In addition to awards, Mark Snow completed his yearlong term as the JACC state student president.
The Citrus College delegation also had the chance to attend workshops led by professionals from across the country, as the convention was a joint effort between JACC and the national Associated Collegiate Press. Lessons from the convention have already made their way into student media at the college, including a soft launch of the Clarion's new TikTok account.
Congrats to the entire Citrus College Communication program, including instructor Patrick Schmiedt, Logos Magazine adviser Anthony Orona, and all the past, present and future students involved with the Clarion and Logos!
