To process your SRE application, you need two recommendations from current or former professors, counselors, or mentors. Please email them formally with the SRE Recommendation Form link as noted below. Make certain they know to submit the recommendation by the Wednesday, March 26 deadline date.

The information from the recommendation form is used to assess the applicant's qualifications and will assist in the determination of the applicant's strength as a candidate for the SRE program.

About the Summer Research Experience Program

The SRE program provides an exceptional opportunity for students to engage in scientific research while developing valuable skills in a collaborative environment.

Hands-on research experience: Participants will gain practical experience in scientific research.
Dynamic and collaborative environment: Work in a team setting with fellow researchers.
Guidance from mentors: Dedicated mentors will support students throughout their projects.
Research poster presentation: Students will prepare and present their research at one or more symposiums, including the Citrus College 2025 STEM Research Symposium.
Stipend: Participants will receive up to $6,000.
Full-time commitment: The program requires full-time participation for eight (8) weeks.

Eligibility Requirements+-

Enrolled at Citrus College as your primary college with continued enrollment through spring 2025
Have a declared major in science, technology, engineering, or mathematics (STEM)
Pursuing your first bachelor's degree
Have passed at least two STEM courses by the end of spring 2025
Have passed pre-calculus (MATH 175) by the end of spring 2025
Have a minimum GPA of 2.5
Willing to make a full-time commitment (work 40+ hours/week)
Required to participate in the 2025 STEM Research Symposium at Citrus College in September by presenting your research poster
