WHAT IS A STUDENT EDUCATIONAL PLAN (SEP)?
The SEP is an important tool in guiding students to successfully complete their course of study. During a SEP session, the counselor or advisor will review general education patterns for the associate degree and transfer, certificate programs, and available majors offered at Citrus College. A SEP lists recommended courses and services to help students reach their goal.
First Time Students: Non-exempt first time students are strongly encouraged to complete a SEP prior to enrolling in their first term of classes. Students should check with the
Counseling and Advisement Center, or appropriate specialized counseling program in which they are eligible to receive services, to complete a SEP. Students who are uncertain about which counseling office to contact, should begin their services with the
Counseling and Advisement Center.
Continuing Students: Continuing students are encouraged to identify a course of study and complete a comprehensive SEP with a counselor no later than the completion of 15 semester units of degree applicable course work or prior to the end of the third semester.
Students are to make an appointment with the appropriate counselor as it relates to the course of study (i.e. STEM, Nursing) or specialized counseling program (i.e. EOPS, DSPS, Athletes, Veterans). Students should contact the
Counseling and Advisement Center if they are not participating in a specialized counseling program.
