Cal Grants are designed to assist low and middle-income families with tuition, fees, and training costs. Eligibility is based on a student's grade point average, student/parents income and a student's course of study. Cal Grant deadlines are March 2 and September 2.
This program offers three types of state grants: Cal Grants A, B and C
· Cal Grant A
Cal Grant A recipients may only use the award at a four-year college or university. Community College students may qualify for Cal Grant A if he/she is considering in attending a four year institution. However, if he/she will be attending a community college prior to transferring, the grant can be placed on hold while attending a community college. Upon transferring, the student may then activate their Cal Grant to receive payment.
· Cal Grant B
Cal Grant B awards at Citrus College are up to $1473 per academic year (2012-13 school year). This grant is for qualifying students that are attending Citrus College with the intention of receiving a two-year degree (AA/AS) and/or transferring to a four-year institution. Students must be enrolled in six units or more per semester.
· Cal Grant C
Cal Grant C awards are up to $547 per academic school year (2012-13 school year). This grant is for qualifying students that are attending Citrus College to pursue a vocational certificate (The program must be an eligible certificate program). Students must be enrolled in six units or more per semester.
