Message from Superintendent/President Geraldine Perri, Ph.D.
In our ongoing effort to ensure the health and safety of our college community, Citrus continues to provide information regarding the nationwide H1N1 flu (swine flu) pandemic and the predicted outbreaks of other types of influenza that may arise this flu season. We will continue to take all necessary precautions to make sure that college operations continue to run smoothly and we will update you as changes take place.
Although public health agencies predict in increase in H1N1 cases, they all agree that practicing good health habits is the key to staying healthy. Therefore, we recommend the following:
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for 20 seconds, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
• Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread this way.
• Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
• If you get sick with influenza, health care agencies and professionals recommend that you stay home from work or school and limit contact with others to keep from infecting them.
Citrus College’s staff is committed to your health, safety and well-being; therefore, we encourage you to be knowledgeable and proactive. We have provided links to the Centers for Disease Control, California Department of Public Health, and the Los Angeles Department of Public Health websites. These websites are updated frequently to provide you with the most accurate and timely information available.
Sincerely,

Geraldine M. Perri, Ph.D.
Superintendent/President
