MY CITRUS STORY - Robert Brigham
As if they are now, anda later they shall be.
After receiving my Bachelor of Arts degree in music from Azusa Pacific University, I decided to enroll in the German language class at Citrus College. I had missed the initial enrollment deadline, but the professor was warm and friendly and encouraged me to join the class anyway. Over the course of two years, my fluency in the German language increased dramatically. The professor, Dr. Cloughly, took a great personal interest in each of her students, and through a variety of learning methods we were able to grasp a rich understanding and knowledge of not only the language, but German culture as well. Beyond learning German, Dr. Cloughly was a significant influence in my own personal success. Were it not for her encouragement to enroll at Citrus College, we would never have met and I would never have received a Fulbright Scholarship to Romania. Once again, Dr. Cloughly inspired me beyond the classroom to apply for this prestigious award, and I won! I spent a year in Romania on my Fulbright Scholarship (where, in fact, I did use much of the German I had learned), and I continue to stay in touch with Dr. Cloughly.
