Online Tutoring

Online tutoring is offered via e-mail, message board, and chat. Complete information can be found by accessing Online Tutoring.

Appointments
Before receiving tutoring, a "Tutor Request" form must be completed and submitted to Tutorial Services each semester. The form is available in ED 216, or online by clicking Tutor Request Form. An instructor or counselor's signature is required on the form.

Tutoring appointments may have up to three students scheduled per session.
Students are allowed a maximum of two hours a week of tutoring per subject. No more than one hour per class will be scheduled for the same day.

Appointments must be made with a minimum of 24 hours, excluding Sundays and holidays.  The exception to the appointment policy, is on-line or drop-in tutoring.  To make appointments, come to ED 216 in the Learning Center or telephone (626) 914-8570.

Reminder - appointments will not be made until the Tutor Request form is completed and submitted.
An appointment slip indicating the day, date, and time of the appointment and the name of the tutor, is given for each appointment. Upon request, students making appointments by phone may pick-up their appointment slip in
ED 216.

Tardiness/Absences
It is the student's responsibility to arrive on time or call if unable to keep the appointment, or if he/she will be late. The tutor will only wait ten minutes. After that, the tutee will be considered a "no show". After two "no shows", tutoring may be denied for the remainder of the semester.

Child Care
Children are not allowed in the Learning Center.

Preparation
Tutees need to bring textbooks and other class-related materials to the tutoring session. It is imperative to be prepared for the tutoring session by having reviewed the course material beforehand, having specific questions or problems in mind, and having a genuine willingness to attempt to do the work.
Tutors cannot and will not complete the assignments for the tutee.

Accountability
The student ID card must be presented for each tutoring appointment, and the tutee must sign the tutor's log at each session.

Feedback
Please report any problems to the tutorial staff immediately. Positive comments are also important and appreciated. Students' opinions are important to us, as is their success!
