Welcome! You are either enrolled in, or you are interested in enrolling in, the Health Sciences 100 Distance Education class. As described in the class schedule, Health Occupations 100 is designed to provide the student with the knowledge and skills necessary to begin an entry-level career in Emergency Medical Services (EMS) and other allied health-related fields of patient care. This course provides beginning concepts of preparatory sciences directly related to the care of sick and injured persons. It also covers the knowledge and skills necessary for American Heart Association (AHA) cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and first aid certificate for healthcare providers. Successful completion of this course is required for enrollment into the Emergency Medical Technician Basic Program.
Details regarding the course are set forth in the class website (see below). When you go there, pay particular attention to the syllabus section and the assignment section.
First, it is important that you send me an email. If you are enrolled in the class, please email me now. Provide me with your full name and the email address you will be using during the duration of the semester.
- Update email on WingSpan so it will transfer to Blackboard
- Your WingSpan ID becomes your Blackboard Username
- Your WingSpan PIN number (six digits only) becomes your Blackboard password
- To change these on Blackboard requires you change them on WingSpan
- Data will be transferred from WingSpan to Blackboard on a regular basis
Once you get to the welcome page, click on the Emergency Medical Services Career Preparation course link on the right, and you will go to the course site. Please be familiarized yourself with the course site and if you have any questions please email your instructor with your concern. Get your textbook and get started with your initial assignments. A major key to your success in this course will be keeping up with both the reading and the other assignments.
