Citrus College has a long history of supporting student leadership development and has recently added this academic program to its leadership development programs. Currently LEAD 103, Foundations of Leadership, a three-unit transferable course, is offered.
This course surveys the foundational theories and applications of leadership from an individual standpoint, in a team-based environment, and within a large organizational structure. Special attention is paid to practical application of theory and is focused on the development of the student as a leader. This course is required either as a pre- or co-requisite to holding a leadership position in the campus' student government association, ASCC. This course is approved for transfer to UC and CSU.
Student Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of the course, students will be able to do the following:
1. Differentiate between leadership and management skills
2. Analyze leadership and ethics in diverse contexts
3. Synthesize both the positive and negative attributes of contemporary and/or historical leaders
