Daisy Llamas Q & A - Volleyball
1. How long have you been playing volleyball? I’ve been playing for about 12 years, since 7th grade. I played in junior high school, and then played three years of varsity in high school, and played one year of club volleyball for Top Gun.
2. Why did you choose Citrus College? Out of high school I went to Mt. SAC, where I red-shirted for a year, and when I was there I didn’t really like the environment there. I stopped going to school for a year, and then decided to come here to Citrus. I really like it here, the environment was really different. The campus is a lot smaller, and it seemed like everybody knew each other.
Before I came to Citrus I didn’t think I was very good, but once I got here Coach [Shin] Jung worked with me and made me way better. This year [Assistant Coach] Kelly [Fink] has helped me out a lot. My hitting has gotten better, and my kill percentage has gone way up compared to last year.
3. How have you changed as an athlete and student since coming to Citrus? When I was at Mt. SAC, I didn’t really put the right effort into my classes, but when I got here that changed. Here at Citrus I’ve been passing my classes, and have really improved.
4. What are some of your best memories so far playing for Citrus? We haven’t won a lot of games really this year, but we have a pretty good team. Our chemistry has gotten a lot better since last year, and I think we can still win a lot of games before the season is over.
5. What are your plans after leaving Citrus? I would like to go and play at San Francisco State or Northern Arizona, but if those don’t work out I want to just continue to play wherever I can get a shot.
