Slow Start Forces Loss at Allan Hancock

Friday, September 30, 2011

Santa Maria, CA (Men’s Soccer) -- The Citrus College Men’s Soccer team had a slow start on Friday afternoon in their 5-2 loss at Allan Hancock College. The Fighting Owls gave up five first half goals, before shutting down the Bulldogs and scoring a pair of their own in the second half.

After Citrus gave up those five first half goals, sophomore Jose Garces got things going for the Fighting Owls in the second frame. Garces kicked things off with an assist to Daniel Chavez for his second goal of the year. Garces then took things into his own hands later in the half when he scored his team leading third of the year on an unassisted goal.

With the loss, Citrus falls to 2-4-3 on the year and 0-1-1 in Western State Conference play. The Fighting Owls will be on the road yet again on Tuesday when they take on College of the Canyons. Kick-off is set for 2:00 PM in Santa Clarita.
