Ron Ponciano

Head Coach Ron Ponciano

Coach Ponciano is in his first year as the head coach, and his fifth year with the team, serving as the defensive coordinator the last four seasons at Citrus College. Coach Ponciano brings 21 years of experience to the Citrus College staff.

Coach Ponciano comes to Citrus after being the Head football coach at L.A. Valley College for the previous four years. Ponciano has also served as the head coach at California State University, Northridge, and interim head coach at Shasta Community College. Ponciano has served as the defensive coordinator at McPherson College, San Jose State, California State University Nothridge, and Azusa Pacific University . He has been responsible for creating some of the top defenses in the nation at every level he has coached.

Coach Ponciano was also a Graduate Assistant at University of Southern California, Los Angeles. While working at USC the Trojans won back to back Pac 10 championships. Ron and wife Lisa reside in Alta Loma with their son Chad.

Ben Noonan

Offensive Coordinator & Assistant Head Coach Ben Noonan

Coach Ben Noonan begins his first season as the Citrus College Offensive Coordinator. Noonan comes to the Fighting Owls fresh off a coaching gig at NCAA Division I Alabama State University (2008). While with the Hornets, Noonan served as the Offensive Coordinator.

Prior to Alabama State, Noonan coached at another DI school, Baylor University (2007-2008). While with the Bears, Noonan served as a graduate assistant quarterbacks coach, helping guide quarterback Blake Szymanski into the Baylor record books.  

Noonan’s coaching career began at the community college level, when he served as the defensive backs’ coach at Mendocino College (2000-2002) in Ukiah, California. As a member of the Eagle staff, Noonan served as the team’s passing-game coordinator. 

After Mendocino, Noonan moved onto Texas A & M University Kingsville (2002-2005), a member of the NCAA Division II. There, Noonan served as the wide-receivers coach, coaching two Lone-Star Conference Wide Receivers of the Year and recruiting the back to back Lone-Star Conference Player of the Year in 2003 and 2004.

From there, Noonan accepted a position at West Texas A & M University (2005-2007), serving as the team’s co-offensive coordinator. As the team’s offensive coordinator, Noonan helped lead the Buffs to the 2nd ranked passing game in the nation and the 14th ranked total offense in the nation. West Texas A & M also won back to back conference titles with Noonan playing a pivotal role.

Noonan resides with his wife Joanna in Rancho Cucamonga.

 

Martin Bacon

Defensive Coordinator & Defensive Back's Coach Martin Bacon

Coach Bacon is entering his fourth year with the Fighting Owl staff, and his first as the defensive coordinator. Martin Bacon graduated from Etiwanda High School in 1997. He was named to the All Mt. Baldy League and received All C.I.F. Honorable Mention. Bacon then played 2 seasons at Chaffey College ('98 & '99) where he was an All League Honorable Mention player. At Chaffey Bacon also won the Southern Cal Bowl rings and two League Titles.

After Chaffey, Bacon then attended and played at Cal State Northridge ('00 & '01). While there he received the Defensive Rookie of the year and Big Sky All Conference awards and his Bachelor's Degree in Sociology. For two years after CSUN, Bacon coached at Etiwanda High School for their Varsity & Jr. Varsity football teams. He currently works for the La Puente School District and resides in Rancho Cucamonga.

 

 

Craig Evans

Run Game Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach Craig Evans

Coach Craig Evans begins his second season with the Fighting Owls, and his ninth in the college ranks. Coach Evans will be an offensive line coach, and serve as the Fighting Owls run game coordinator.

Prior to this season with Citrus College, Evans spent three seasons at Mt. San Antonio College (2001-2003) and four seasons at Cal State University Chico (1993-1996).  While with the Wildcats, Coach Evans helped guide Chico State to three conference championships in four years.

Along with his extensive college resume, Evans has also put together an impressive high school resume. Coach Evans most recently spent eight seasons (1997-2000, 2004-2007) as the offensive line coach at Charter Oak High School. As an assistant coach with the Chargers, Charter Oak was a CIF Finalist in 1999, 2000, and 2006, and was the CIF Champions in 1998.

Besides his time at Charter Oak, Coach Evans also spent time as an o-line coach at the 1992 CIF Champion Pleasant Valley High School (1991-1992), and in 1990 at Gridley High School who won the 1990 West Side League Championship.

An alumnus of Charter Oak High School, Coach Evans played three varsity seasons for the Chargers, playing on the 1985 CIF Champion 13-0 Charter Oak squad, as an offensive and defensive line All-League and All-San Gabriel Valley selection. After graduating from Charter Oak, Coach Evans continued his playing career at Chico State, where he was an All-Conference selection two years (1988-1989).

Coach Evans resides in Covina, CA with his wife Emily, sons Christian (17) and Luke (10), and his daughter Skye (2).

Defensive Line Coach Eduardo Pacheco

Coach Eduardo Pacheco begins his second season with Citrus College, and will serve as the Defensive Line Coach for the Fighting Owls. Born June 11, 1979, Coach Pacheco graduated from Etiwanda High School in 1997.

While at EHS, Coach Pacheco played on three straight playoff teams and a league championship squad during his junior season. As a senior Coach Pacheco was named team captain and earned All-Mt. Baldy League honors. He also was selected to participate in the Maui vs Southern California All-Star Game held in Hawaii.

After his playing career Coach Pacheco went into coaching, where he boasts seven years of experience. After coaching three seasons at his alma mater, Coach Pacheco most recently spent four seasons as the defensive line coach at Wilson High School. As a member of the Wildcats Coaching Staff, Coach Pacheco played a pivotal role in guiding Wilson to the CIF quarter finals.

Along with his coaching duties, Coach Pacheco has dedicated his life to helping young people on and off the field. Pacheco currently works at Stimson learning Center, a school for special needs children ranging from 1st to 12th grade. Coach Pacheco has worked in various school districts for over seven years and continues to help troubled youth.

 

Coach Scott MorrisonSpecial Teams Coordinator/Strength & Conditioning Coach/Outside Receivers Coach Scott Morrison

Coach Scott Morrison begins his first season with the Fighting Owls, and will serve as the Special Teams Coordinator, Strength & Conditioning Coordinator, and the Outside Receivers Coach.

Morrison’s coaching resume spans nearly two and a half decades at the high school level. Most recently, Morrison was the head football coach at Damien High School in La Verne from 2003-2008. In that span Morrison led Damien to four CIF Playoff appearances and Sierra League Conference Championships in 2003 and 2006.

Prior to his stint at Damien Morrison served as the head football coach at Marin Catholic High School in Kentfield, California from 1998-2002. As the head coach at Marin, Morrison directed his team to three Northern California Playoff appearances, and a Northern California Championship in 1998. That year, Marin was named the Cal-Hi Sports Division III State Team of the Year.

During the 1991-1997 seasons Morrison served as the Defensive Coordinator at St. Mary’s High School in Stockton, California. As a member of the St. Mary’s staff, Morrison helped lead them to back to back SJAA Championships (1994, 1995), and to six playoff appearances in seven years.

In his 20 plus years coaching at the high school level, Morrison has sent numerous kids on to play at the four-year level, including most recently, Ian Johnson (Boise State) and Freddie Brown (Utah). In that time, Morrison also coached four future NFL players.

Morrison’s playing career was just as decorated as his coaching career is. As a high school player at Damien, Morrison played for a CIF Championship team in 1982. That season Morrison earned All-Baseline League honors and All-Valley honors.

From there, Morrison moved on to Citrus College where he played on the Mission Conference Championship team in 1983. The following year, Morrison earned All-Mission, All-State, and All-American honors.

After that Morrison matriculated to the University of the Pacific, where he was the teams leading receiver in 1986. That same season Morrison was named to the All-American Strength Team. Morrison was also a well-rounded athlete, playing baseball for Citrus and UOP.

Away from the football field, Morrison teaches English at Damien High School, and research writing at Axia College. Morrison lives in Glendora with his wife Leigh, and their three children, Ryne, Kyleigh, and Ellie.

Inside Receivers Coach Peter Lofthouse

Coach Peter Lofthouse begins his first season with the Fighting Owls, and will serve as the inside receivers coach. Lofthouse comes to Citrus after serving as the Offensive Graduate Assistant at Baylor University for two seasons and a season as the wide receivers coach at Texas Lutheran University.

A stand-out wide receiver and tight end at El Toro High School, Lofhouse lettered in both football and baseball. Lofthouse went on to graduate from Arizona State University with a Business Administration degree in 2004, and then got his Masters in Education from Baylor University in 2008.

 

Running Backs Coach David Boler

Coach David Boler begins his first season with the Fighting Owls and will serve as the running back’s coach. Coach Boler spent the last two seasons coaching at Charter Oak High School where he was in charge of receivers and defensive backs. A Charter Oak alum, Boler played two stand-out seasons for the Chargers, earning All-Southern Section and All-CIF honors.

After his high school playing days were done, Coach Boler signed with the University of Southern California where he red-shirted in 2001. After the 2001 season, Boler transferred to the University of Delaware where he played four storied seasons. As a member of the Blue Hen’s, Boler helped lead Delaware to a NCAA Division 1-AA National Championship in 2003. During his senior season Coach Boler caught 152 passes for over 2,100 yards and 15 TD’s.

Off the field Boler works as a personal trainer at Elite Core. Among his many clients is New Orleans Saints cornerback Jason David. Boler resides in Glendora.

Linebackers Coach David Hubbard

Coach David Hubbard is in his first season with the Fighting Owls and will serve as the linebacker’s coach. Hubbard comes to Citrus after playing the last three seasons at the University of Buffalo. Prior to Buffalo, Hubbard played one season with the Fighting Owls, earning All-WSC Honorable Mention honors in 2006.

Coach Hubbard put together an impressive high school resume to go along with his college accolades. Hubbard was a two-time All-Baseline League selection in three years playing for Etiwanda High School, and even helped lead the Eagles to a Baseline League Championship in 2003.

 

Defensive Back's Coach Gino Ramsey

Coach Gino Ramsey begins his first season with the Fighting Owls and will serve as the defensive back’s coach. Prior to coming over to Citrus, Ramsey spent five seasons as the defensive back’s coach at Paloma Valley High School, where he was invited to coach wide receivers in the Riverside County vs San Bernardino County High School All-Star Game.

Coach Ramsey prepped four varsity seasons for Perris High School where he broke the school record for receiving yards. Upon graduation Ramsey accepted a scholarship to Idaho State before eventually transferring to Cal State Northridge where he played alongside Citrus College Defensive Coordinator Martin Bacon for three seasons.

In his spare time, Coach Ramsey enjoys fishing, playing chess, traveling, and spending time with his daughter.
